I forgot to tell you girls about my vacation to Cabo San Lucas. I went for my law school friend's wedding for the long weekend. It was over-the-top incredible. Four days of reunioning with 10 law school friends and 3 days of Indian wedding madness. During the wedding top-shelf booze, food, and even some tourist stuff was taken care of. They hosted over 200 people for the destination wedding. We stayed at the Hilton with ocean view rooms, and of course I stayed extra days with some friends to snorkel, get a wave runner, and see the Pacific (we stayed on the Sea of Cortez side). My vacations have always been more on the adventurous side...I've never done this sort before...where you lounge by the infinity pool (and
in the pool) for days. I might be hooked! This is the view from the hotel:

This was the set-up for the actual wedding ceremony (GORGEOUS!):

This is my friend's parade into the ceremony (notice he is riding a white horse :) :

I haggled with a local to get him to take me out on his boat to where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez. I think the picture is too small to see it, but lounging on the rock on the far left are a bunch of sea lions. The waves were incredible:

Of course, my facebook profile has a ton of pics, too.

Jeebus. That is one beautiful vacay. Hopefully when I'm a gazillionaire, too, I'll be taking the lovely trips...happily, I'm working on something that I think doesn't suck, so maybe soon...You be one hot, lucky Mama.
I won't lie, I'm totally jealous. There's no way that I could afford something like that on my grad student stipend, but this is the kind of stuff I keep in mind to make me motivated to finish my Ph.D. I imagine all the fun we'll have with my fat scientist salary. We should all do some traveling together when we've all got more money. In particular, I imagine us sunning ourselves somewhere in the Mediterranean, sipping wine...
The Hilton? With ocean views? In Cabo? Woman, you are made of money these days -- and I won't lie, I'm jealous of your vacations, your mini cooper, your NKOTB tickets. But I guess this is why your grad school was 50 billion times more expensive than mine. :)
PS: I vote for a mad blow-out weekend in Vegas the next time someone gets married. Rock can use her lawyer money to pay for a VIP suite at the Bellagio, Erica can use her mad scientist money to pay for the bar tab, and Jamie can spend her royalty moolah on entertainment. I, being a poor professor, will just show up for the party and let you ladies spoil me rotten.
I'm going to take this opportunity to brag about how I have not taken out any loans to fund my graduate degrees. But I don't think I'll be making as much as Urs and Rock do when I graduate.
I love that plan, Sig. It seems like Jamie is next in line to get married......
God, Erica, I can't imagine my life without $50 billion in loans. You are really effing lucky, no joke. I pay over $1000 a month in student loans. There are mortgages cheaper than that for shorter periods of time (not where I live, unfortunately :P). Ha. No regrets on this end, but I'm jealous as hell.
I am all for a mad woman-trip once we all have cashola. Sunning? In the Mediterranean? Sipping wine?!?!?! I'm IN. Don't know if Vegas is my style, but I'm willing to give it a go.
Sig, I love how you've calculated the expenses for us in anticipation :) But you're not going to be poor. You're making GREAT money in T minus a few months...so I think you can be responsible for tipping and transportation w/in Vegas. See? All. Worked. Out.
Jamie, what are you working on?!? I know nothing!
Just some writing--and I have lofty goals. I applied at several places recently (newspaper, publishing company) so I'm working on, you know, having money.
If you all wait like 20 years I could probably afford a trip :) Kids are expensive! Actually - as long as I have a decent notice - like a year I should be able to save up and get a sitter and all that fun stuff. We should do a couples thing since we're all coupled ... Rock ... get on that!
Dude rub it in biatch :P
Actually, I have no problem being the 11th wheel. You bitches best all guard your men :) It'll be like whatever tv show was kinda like that. Yeah. Totally.
And if we do a couples trip you bet your little asses we're doing just a girls trip!
Jamie, do you write full time now? Because that sounds like fun.
Well, I write full time in the sense that I don't get paid for anything. :-) But, ah, I'm trying to change that situation...as it were...
